Super Pet Expo
The premier shopping event. Everything for every pet owner. BRING THE DOG! Leashed pets welcome. Adult tickets $13, kids 12 and under $6. Pet owners will be able to shop for the coolest pet products and services. Lots of animal entertainment and education, and the world’s largest indoor puppy playground, sponsored by Dogtopia Dog Daycare.

Wags 'N Whiskers, Aug 29th
Held in Arlington (Shirlington) with exciting events which included: Pet portraits--go home with a complimentary photo! Also face painting and balloon art. Strut your mutt fashion show, Trick-for-a-treat, best trick contest, store promotions and give aways. www.villageatshirlington.com

Caring Hands Animal Hospital’s 13TH Annual Open House, Aug 23rd
This year’s theme was the Dog Days of Summer.  Some of the fun included: a canine cake walk, pet games, exciting prize wheel and silent auction, a good clean dog wash, children’s games, an agility demonstration, and teddy bear surgery.  Funds raised benefited local animal rescue groups including Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue and Friends of Homeless Animals. www.caringhandsvet.com

22nd Annual Bark Ball, June 6th
An established Washington tradition, the 22nd Annual Bark Ball is a formal soiree that draws 700 attendees and 400 dogs including notables from the political pet set such as Leader Dole, Millie Bush, Socks Clinton, Spot and Barney Bush! NOVADog is excited to be a part of the festivities this year and proud to support the Washington Humane Society. The Silent Auction will include a NOVADog gift set of an annual subscription, NOVADog T-Shirt, my dog rulz bandana and the chance for your dog to be featured in a NOVADog magazine house ad.

Herndon K-9 2K Dog Walk and Doggie Expo, Saturday, May 30th
NOVADog Magazine was pleased to be the Media Sponsor of this exciting event supporting the Herndon Chandon Dog Park.  Bark 'N Bubbles and All Friends Pet Care were proud sponsors of the K-9 2K & Doggie Expo, was held as part of the Herndon Festival ‘09.

Fun Dog Show 2009:  Saturday, March 7th, 2009, Old Town AlexandriaNOVADog Magazine was the official Media Sponsor of the 2009 Fun Dog Show, an event benefiting the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, and co-sponsored by Barkley Square and Karing by Kristina.  Market Square was pawsitively jumping with fun things to dog.  Read the article recapping the event, including photos of the winners on the recent issue page.

Super Pet Expo 2009, March 20-22, 2009, Dulles Expo Center   
NOVADog Magazine attended the Super Pet Expo 2009 and met thousands of local dogs and dog-lovers during this 3 day event. We enjoyed every minute of talking with you and hearing your thoughts on our new magazine.  Thank you for your ideas and support!

Paws For A Cause, April 19th
NOVADog Magazine was pleased to support the advancement of veterinary science.  The keynote for this exciting event was Cesar Millan, “The Dog Whisperer. This event benefited the Koret School of Venerinary Science.  All attendies received a copy of NOVADog’s Spring Issue among other great goodies. www.afhu.org/DCpawsforacause

Many people enjoyed a day of fun and festivities, met new friends & neighbors, and soaked up the Adams Morgan experience. Program topics were held for Pet owners and vendors with all sorts of products & education. http://bowwowpowwow.com 

2009 Reston Pet Fiesta, May 2
NOVADog Magazine was proud to be the official Media Sponsor of the 2009 Reston Pet Fiesta, an event benefiting the GoodDogz.org.  This annual outdoor festival brings together local businesses, animal rescue groups and pet owners for an exciting day of interactive activities, demonstrations, exhibitions and animals galore.  www.petfiesta.org 

Have a Doggone Good Time at Nationals Park! Sept. 5th and 6th 
Washington Nationals had a weekend of Pups in the Park.  During 2 special games you could bring your pooch to the ball park and help support a good cause, the Washington Humane Society.  $5 of every dog ticket purchased and $2 of every human ticket purchased benefited the Washington Humane Society. NOVADog was there handing out magazines and prizes. www.nationals.com/pups

Wag’N for the Cure September 12-13 Wag’N Enterprises and Dogma Bakery are teamed up with Morris Animal Foundation and 2 Dogs 2,000 Miles to help fight canine cancer—Luke and his dogs Hudson and Murphy made a guest appearance! 

Charity Dog Wash September 19 Oxygen masks save pet lives. The Washington DC Fire Department needed more masks. WAG'N Enterprises held a dog wash event at the Bark'N Bubbles Dog Wash in Herndon, VA.

Beau's Walk of Courage: Walking to Save Pet's Lives
One mile fun walk at Fairfax Corner for people and pets—proceeds to benefit the Animal Cancer Foundation in memory of Beau. Registration fee is $25. www.beauswalkofcourage.com

HART (Homeless Animals Rescue Team) Dog Walk & Homecoming October 4
HART held their 4th annual Dog Walk and Homecoming! A 1 mile walk at the Bull Run Regional Park Special Events Area. Helped to raise money for homeless dogs and cats. All dogs were welcome, and the walk was rain or shine. Live music, kids corner, stupid pet tricks, best pet costume contest, and dog/owner look-a-like contest. http://www.hart90.org/DogWalk2009.aspx

Humane Society Walk for the Animals October 10
Hundreds of dogs and people strolled the National Mall! There were loads of entertainment and games. You could bring your canine friend—or walk in memory of a special animal or for a pet who prefers the comfort of home. All proceeds from the Walk went to adoption, humane education, and spay/neuter programs of the Washington Humane Society and The Humane Society of the United States.

NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo Jan 16-17
Free health screenings run the gamut from hearing and vision testing to cancer, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. There’s also an opportunity to donate blood onsite.
Lots of fun things to do and see including the Rock Climbing Wall, Healthy Cooking
Stage, Fitness Demos, and the Get Healthy 4 Life Walking Track. Visit the Safe and Healthy Pet Pavillion and get a free 2010 calendar poster featuring Northern Virginia dogs!
