Here we are – just a few more days until the GlowDOGGlow 5K and 1-mile fun run at Barktoberfest!  Can you believe you’ve been training for a 5K with your pup for eight weeks?  Just think about how far you’ve come.  You made it through five weeks of increasing intervals in the peak heat of sumer.  These short interval bursts helped increase your stamina and cardiovascular capacity to add longer distance intervals in weeks six and seven.  Paws up for both you and your pooch – you should now be able to run 3.1 miles (a 5K) with ease!

As the big night approaches, use the rest of the week to get a few last minute training sessions in.  Session 1 focuses on two longer distance intervals, totaling up to 4 miles.  For the last session, mimic the actual 5K – a 35 minute run finished with a 1-minute sprint!

If you’re new to training and don’t feel prepared to run a 5K with your dog, no need to worry.  The GlowDOGGlow race is geared for runners and walkers of all skill levels.  Our fun, illuminated course is a blast for walkers as well.  Plus, you can’t miss the post-race family and pet-friendly afterparty!
