National Pet Day Washington DC Cherry BlossomsApril 11th is officially recognized as National Pet Day – a day to show our beloved furry friends how special they are to us.

Here in the nation’s capital, many of you showed the love to your pet by getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the first signs of spring – the gorgeous cherry blossoms and other spectacular blooms unique to our area.  We are so fortunate to have access to a variety of pet-friendly trails and Washington D.C.’s National Parks all year round, but taking in the beauty and serenity of these places during peak cherry blossom season is surely a sight to behold.

We asked our readers to share pictures of their pets relishing in all the cherry blossom goodness and they didn’t disappoint.  Here are a few of our favorites!

Don’t fret!  The warmer weather should be sticking around for good, and our nation’s capital provides the perfect backdrop for playing with your pet.  Before the humidity and stickiness of summer is upon us, get out for walks around the tidal basin or games of catch on the mall. If these cute canines don’t inspire you to get out, nothing will!
